Nassau CC / Calamity Jane House Renovation
Nassau Country Club, located in Glen Cove on Long Island’s North Shore, was founded in 1896. Their Halfway House, better known as The Calamity Jane House, was constructed in 1911. It used to house the golf pro shop and was used to make custom clubs inside. In more recent years, half of it became a bag storage room, and the other half, a lounge and grill. It was time to give this special place a full renovation and Foschi Construction Corp. was chosen to do the job! The whole building was gutted and all interior walls were removed and replaced. In order to open up the space, we had to create new supports in place of the walls that held up the ceiling. The renovation has made the entire facility, both inside and outside, more useful, comfortable, and just plain fun for the members. The interior is divided by a two-sided fireplace. On one side is a spacious living room, and on the other is a full commercial kitchen and dining room. We installed two beautiful new bathrooms, one of which is handicap accessible. Outside, a large new Bluestone patio wraps around the building and includes two gas fire pits and one wood burning fire pit for all to enjoy. The exterior of the building was completely restored with new windows, doors, and exterior lighting. While the building is almost completely brand new, it maintains the club’s proud historic significance.
